Reacquaint yourself with God

Does God seem far away?

Are you looking at the circumstances and they seem overwhelming? Take your eyes off the storm and focus on God alone.

Draw nigh to him and he promises to draw nigh to you (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Tell him your heart, then be still and listen to his.

Ask him what it is that you don't understand, or failed to do that he asked. Ask God to remind you where you last left off in communication. He will tell you. God reveals his thoughts to mankind.

Amos 4:13 NIV

He who forms the mountains,
    who creates the wind,
    and who reveals his thoughts to mankind,
who turns dawn to darkness,
    and treads on the heights of the earth—
    the Lord God Almighty is his name.

What is your heart telling you? Where are your thoughts turning?

A friend of Job named Eliphaz gave advice to Job in chapter 22 thinking that he had sinned before God. Even though Eliphaz did not understand the situation we can still follow his words for our own lives.

When the road seems tough, the way ahead is not clear, or we feel like God is far away, we can reacquaint ourselves with him by reading his word and praying.

Reacquaint yourself with Him.

Job 22: 21-28 NKJV

“Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace;

Thereby good will come to you.

22 Receive, please, instruction from His mouth,

And lay up His words in your heart.

23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up;

You will remove iniquity far from your tents.

24 Then you will lay your gold in the dust,

And the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks.

25 Yes, the Almighty will be your gold

And your precious silver;

26 For then you will have your delight in the Almighty,

And lift up your face to God.

27 You will make your prayer to Him,

He will hear you,

And you will pay your vows.

28 You will also declare a thing,

And it will be established for you;

So light will shine on your ways.

Thank God for revealing himself to you once again and journal what you have heard and learned from the Holy Spirit.
